friday.
the makings of a lovely day.
  • a traffic-free freeway making the trip to LAX a breeze
  • discovering a new bakery in westwood
  • at which i ate a yummy chicken pesto sandwich with fresh mozarella
  • the humanity shining in the face of the homeless man we met in line at diddy riese
  • overcoming my usual awkwardness when conversing with a homeless person to joke with him about calling me joan of arc
  • munching on a scrumptious ice cream sandwich while walking down sunny l.a. streets
  • easy conversation with a friend
  • realizing how well i know my 20th century literary history and criticism
  • rediscovering the exhilaration of playing beethoven's pathetique
  • a new ryan adams album to accompany room cleaning
  • sweaters stacked neatly in place
  • anticipating a movie with friends

  1. I'm grateful that I got to share the first part of this day with you, too. Thanks for standing by me through everything. I'm finding that I have to create an alternative sense of family outside the blood bonds of my own and I will forever consider you one of my sisters...

  2. i love love love my family. wouldn't trade them for anything. but i have the same need for an alternative sense of family on occasion. i count myself lucky to have siblings who are friends and friends who are like sisters.

glad to share yesterday's lovely morning with you and tonight's concert.

  4. Your list makes my life look quite boring :) ....seems like when we get a chance to go out on a date it is always so last minute we end up eating dessert somewhere we have been 100 times already!....hmmm that reminds me it is time to go to Thai Village for some sticky rice and mango!

    :)

  5. sometime you should go to royal india in sandy. jared and sonja have been and i'm sure they'd love to go, too. if you're worried about what to get, get chicken mahkani or a tandoori chicken. plus, jared and sonja will know what to order. good stuff.
