so when i thought about what to do for his birthday, i decided i'd steal an idea from my friends brooke and john. so j(wh)'s gift is a day full of whatever he'd like to do. within limits (see below). and a little handmade book that explains that, which will also be used to remember the day when I fill it with photos and notes after the day of j(wh).
{on a side note, it was a sheer joy to sit and make something. it's been far too long. i think i'll keep at it. and i think i'll stick to small books for a while. i've always loved them and making them seems ever so much better than buying them. addendum: tonight i bought myself a bookmaking book at borders (love those coupons) and discovered this book is called a 'star accordion' book.}

Two reservations: Is 10 hours of not supporting the leadership long enough or too long a time to ruin a Recommend?
Will $50 last 14 hours for three of us at Chuck-E-Cheese's? I want a full pizza party, and a solid hour of ski-ball while the two of you tell me how great I'm doing.
It's just a brainstorm. I might come up with something better.
well, personally i think if we're going to invalidate my recommend, we should go for a more obvious route than "not supporting the leadership." because i'm sure i could find a way to wriggle out of that after the fact. i say let's go for affiliating with oppositional groups. don't the quakers oppose hierarchical institutions? let's find us a nice 'Friendly' activity to engage in...
ReplyDeleteas for the $50 budget at chuck E. cheese's, that one's tougher. do woman X and i have to eat? or are we just there to cheer you on as you consume pizza? can we draw out the ski ball games by fawning all over you between every single throw? that might stretch the dollar a bit, too.
